The students of this institute are recipient of scholarships, merit - cum - means scholarships granted by the Institute, Govt. of India, Govt. of Tamil Nadu, and other State Governments, Hotel Industry, Bakery Industry, philanthropic Public etc, as per merits/rules and regulations. National Awards for the toppers in the National Council Examinations conducted by the National Council for Hotel Management, New Delhi are distributed according to National Merit List on the 25th of January every year being the "India Tourism Day" at New Delhi.

             Hostel Charges and maintenance are partly reimbursed directly to students by/from the Directorate of Adi-Dravidar and Tribal Welfare/Backward Classes of different states if there are any eligible candidates by respective Directorates.

(a) The following Scholarships are granted to the students of this Institute by Govt. of Tamil Nadu, other State Governments and Govt. of India.

The SC/ST students of various courses are granted government Scholarships as per eligibility rules by the Department of Adi-Dravidar and Tribal Welfare, Govt. of Tamil Nadu and also by the respective State to which the students belong to. Tamil Nadu students of SC/ST community are granted Lab. Fee, Maintenance charges etc. except Tuition fees, as per rules of Govt. of Tamil Nadu. 30 eligible students of various courses have availed the scholarship during the year 2008-09 from Tamil Nadu.

(b) The Institute has secured the following Awards from the Hotel Industry / Bakery Industry / Philanthropic Public etc:

1. Padmasree P.Ananda Rau Memorial Award

South India Hotels & Restaurants Association has donated Rs.1,00,000.00 (Rupees one lakh only) as “Padmasree P.Ananda Rau Memorial Endowment”. This amount has been put in fixed deposit. From the interest earned on this deposit the amount is awarded as prize amount to meritorious students of Degree (I, II and III Year), PGD in AOM/PGD-DHFS/DFP/DB&C/Craft FP/Craft F&BS.

2. New Woodlands Hotel Award:

New Woodlands Hotel award Instituted by way of Fixed Deposit of Rs.5000/- donated by New Woodlands Hotel, Chennai-4 and interest earned on this deposit goes as awards to First, Second and Third rank holders who possess the Final Year Examination in Hotel Management. The award goes to the following students who passed meritoriously in 2008 examinations.

First Rank : Ms.Kirtana Angara

Second Rank : Ms.Giny M.George

Third Rank : Ms.Iyer Preetha Lakshmanan.

3. Late Shri J.Ramesh Babu Memorial Award.

In memory of Shri J.Ramesh Babu, III Year DHMCT student (1982-83) who died in a road accident, his father Shri S.Jeyavelu has donated Rs.2,000.00 and desired that the amount may be invested in fixed deposit by the Institute and out of the interest proceeds a memorial award given to a deserving student of Degree course. This award goes to the student Ms.Giny M.George, III Year in the examination held in April, 2008.

4. Aringnar Anna Award:

Aringar Anna Award instituted by way of fixed deposit of Rs.1001.00 donated by late Dr.Navalar Nendunchezhian, the then Finance Minister of Govt. of Tamil Nadu and Ex.Chairman, Board of Governors of this Institute. Interest earned on this fixed deposit goes as award to the student who passed Final Degree Examination in First Class/First Rank. This award goes to the student Ms.Kirtana Angara in the examination held in April 2008. His marks is 897/1200.

5. Everest Culinary Awards:

Everest Masala, S.Narendrakumar & Co., Mumbai has awarded Culinary Awards to the meritorious students in Food Production Practical Examination for the 3-Year Degree course students. The following students have been awarded Culinary Award for the Examination held in April, 2008.
